Osteoporosis is a common metabolic bone disease and although creates health problems mainly in older women, but the etiology of osteoporosis largely begins at a younger age. Therefore prevention of this disease is top on the agenda of many health initiatives worldwide. Improving knowledge, attitude and health behaviors is the first-line effective strategy for prevention. Thus in a community-based experimental study we evaluated the effectiveness of an educational osteoporosis program based on the Health Belief Model on knowledge, beliefs and practice (exercise)among a sample of Iranian young female.
