The first episode aired on 15 October 2008. Each episode was made available to watch online for 21 days after original transmission. In the United Kingdom, the show airs from time to time on the Good Food channel. Encouraged by her family, Allen went to the Ballymaloe Cookery School at the age of 18. After graduating from the school she cooked at the Ballymaloe House Hotel, eventually returning first to test recipes and then to teach at the school. She worked for a while as a caterer in Vancouver before returning again to teach at Ballymaloe.
