Chiral ferrocenyl phosphines account for one of the most successful ligand classes in asymmetric catalysis and several different types of ligands are reported and routinely used. However, the development of new chiral phosphines, which are quick and easily synthesized and show high activities and selectivities in asymmetric catalysis is still an important task for the chemical community. This book is roughly divided into two parts, whereof the first part reviews some general properties and synthetic methods of P-stereogenic phosphines.
