This book is a political economy analysis of the policy and regulatory environment of Internet deployment in Ghana. It identifies three models of Internet deployment in Ghana; private-corporate, social-development, and regional-system provider. Also it addresses key issues regarding the management of the Internet industry by Ghana s regulatory body; the National Communications Authority (NCA). It is based on information gathered through interviews and document analysis. I discuss the Internet in Ghana using the concepts of public interest and the social, political and economic issues related to policy making and regulation in telecommunications. I do this discussion with the background of major Ghanaian policy and regulatory documents like the Accelerated Development Program (1994-2000), and the National Telecommunications Policy (NTP).
